Irina von Bismarck was born in St.Petersburg, Russia. Her musical career began at the age of 6 when she started to play the violin and piano.  She graduated from the St.Petersburg Conservatory under Prof. Alexei Ludewig (senior).

During her studies, she was the solo Viola at the St.Petersburg Chamber Opera Theater. She then moved to the St.Petersburg Philharmonic Academic Orchestra under Alexander Dmitriev and later to the St.Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under Yuri Temirkanov.

She performed in many different music international festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Jueness Musicale World Orchestra, Evian Musical Encounter, Red Sea Music Festival etc.

In 1991 Irina von Bismarck left Russia.

During her career, she performed as soloist with Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Serge Baudo, Christoph Eschenbach, Lorin Maazel, Dmitri Kitaenko and Valery Gergiev. Her chamber music collaborations included Boris Pergamenschikow, Alexander Melnikov, Anna Kandinskaya, Natalia Prischepenko.

Since 1998 Irina von Bismarck has been performing just her single projects. She played concerts with Giora Feidman, Nigel Kennedy and Vadim Repin.

In 1999 she founded her private Foundation for Support of Young Musicians and among its awardees are Sergei Redkin with Tschaikovski Competition and Marina Grauman with Grand Prix Melbourne Chamber Music Competition and ARD Competition in Münich.
