· How do I take part in the "Classic Strings" International Competition?

The 2022 edition of the "Classic Strings" International Competition is open for practitioners of both violin and cello. Interested applicants can register by filling in an online application and submitting a participation fee of €100 by no later than the 10th of March 2022. As the number of participants who will be allowed entry is limited, applications shall be accepted on the first-come-first-served basis, so interested applicants are advised to register in advance by visiting the registration page here so as to ensure their participation in the competition. 

 

· What are the competition prizes? 

The overall competition has a total prize fund of €320,000 which shall be split between the violin and cello competitions, with the highest-ranked participant in each category receiving €100,000, the second-ranked getting €30,000, and the third-ranked earning €15,000. In addition each competition shall grant a €2,000 special prize for the Best Performance of a Maltese Composers Piece (First Round), and a €5,000 special prize for the Best Performance of a Compulsory Piece (Final Round), while the violin competition shall also be awarding a further €5,000 special prize to deserving candidates.

 

· How often is the "Classic Strings" International Competition held?

Following the first two editions of Classic Strings, which were held in 2018 and 2019 respectively, the "Classic Strings" International Competition is now being held once every three years in different countries all around the world, with the 2022 iteration marking the first installment in this new programming of the competition.
