String instruments — Classic Strings

String instruments

The history of the string instruments goes back to the very ancient times. Historians believe that the first visual depiction of a string instrument dates 13,000 BC. There are rock paintings that portray a single-stringed musical bow in one of the caves in France. However, there is no scientific research or clear evidence that plucked instruments existed that long ago. What we do know for sure is that there were string plucked instruments, called guqin in ancient China in 3000 BC.

Since then, throughout thousands of years of history, string instruments have undergone colossal changes. Nowadays, the most popular ones are all the types of guitar, violins, cellos, violas, ukuleles. There are different ways to play them, too. For instance, plucking, bowing and striking.

String instruments play a huge role in our cultural history; people of different ages know and love string instruments music.
